Monochrome Madness Week 8

Can you believe it is Week 8 already, wonder how it will be when it gets to week 52, which of course will mean we have been doing this for a year.  The response is a little down from last week, but I expect that has a lot to with Easter.  We still had a great response.  There are lots of new people again.  I have also worked out how to do this better, well better for me and it feels like it has been no work at all this week, that is great for me.  Now, I know I usually send everyone who emails me an email, just to confirm that I got their email, unfortunately, being away at mum’s, many of you didn’t get hem, so please excuse me this time.  I did get them, well I hope I did and they have all been included.  Remember, if you want to enter an image, the instructions will be at the end of the post.

LeanneCole-pinklakes-6286-5hpm

As I said I went up to my mum’s place for Easter, and on Monday my friend Ted took me for a drive to the Pink Lakes.  I was so excited about going, as we had planned on going there in January, but we couldn’t get in because of all the fires that were up there at that time.  I have to say, it was pretty amazing.  We took some photos, but really the plan is to go back and plan what we will do more before we go, especially now that we know what is there. It would be good to do some classes or rather me teach some classes up there as well.

Anyway back to my image, sorry, I got carried away. The image above was taken up in the National Park where the Pink Lakes are.  There are old industrial bits and pieces left over from when they used to mine the salt.  This old car was just left on top of a hill.  The sun was setting behind it, and the colour image is nice as well, but I like the monochrome version as well.  I have done some stuff to it, but the colour of the sepia tone, I picked from the rust that was on the original image.

Laura Macky has done her image as well.

For more information about Laura’s image then head over to her blog post, Laura the Lionhearted.

While we haven’t had as many images as last week, decisions have had to be made and the decision that Laura and I have come up with is that I will put up the first 40 or so images here and then she will put the rest up on her blog.  I have extra allowance for space on my blog because I pay for the extra space, so I am able to cope with it.  We will see how it goes.  I hope you are happy with that.  You will still email the images to me, and I will forward them to Laura.  It will be first serve etc.  The first lot on mine and then hers.  If that makes sense.

One more thing, if you comment on an image, I will approve, but I won’t respond.  I assume if you comment on the image then the comment is meant for the owner of that image.

Now, if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is leanne@leannecole.com.au
  • The image size should be as small as it can be, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • You have until the following Monday morning to get your entries to me.  Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Wednesday morning.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.

Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.  I respect your copyright and would never keep any of the images.

    April 23, 2014
    • In a good way Chris, I hope. I am seeing black and white everywhere. It is another great way, and thank you too. 🙂

      April 24, 2014
  25. I like what you and Laura have decided about the overflow of images, thank you for being so considerate of others work and continuing to support all who want to participate. These images are really fantastic. I can’t get over how much emotion is coming from both Laura and your images. Of course, different in their subjects but still offering loads of thoughtful longing as your eyes taken in the image. So interesting for me.

    April 24, 2014
    • I think it is a good solution too Carrie, she is happy to do that as well. You don’t need to thank me for that. I don’t like leaving people out, and this is a good way, I hope to make sure that no one is. I think if people go to the trouble of submitting images, then I should show them. Thank you Carrie, I hadn’t thought of the emotion there at all. I think when I think about it, I remember how hard the walk was to get there, how unfit I am at the moment, and then the prickles that were stuck to my clothes from the fall I had, haha, you really should watch where you are walking. So it is great to see the image through someone else’s eyes. I thank you for that.

      April 24, 2014
  26. As usual, you’ve put together some incredible images for your “madness”. Thank you again for including my entry. Cheers!

  31. Jackie Saulmon Ramirez #

There is so much to like! The lion is positively regal resting there. I have a weakness… I love old people and black faces – the more wrinkled the better. These photographs are wonderful, I could stare from one to the next… if I had time. I also liked the bell. That’s quite an eclectic mix.

    April 24, 2014
    • That is fantastic Jackie, I agree with you on all points. It is quite an eclectic mix.

      April 24, 2014
  32. Both you and Laura have done a fantastic job on your images. Your car looks like it has seen better days, but still you’ve turned it into something wonderful. While Laura’s post-processing on the lion makes it look majestic and serene.

    April 24, 2014
    • Thank you Cardinal. I have to say I find it incredible when I look at the original image and what I did to it. I am so glad you like it. I agree with what you said about Laura’s images as well.
