Tuesday’s Bits and Bobs: Moving Forward
Another busy week, but I need to start finding time to work on this magazine that I am going forward with. The weather has been a bit disappointing and so I have been cancelling things and changing dates, but then again, it also means days at home to work on other projects.
One on One Photography Sessions
The weather hasn’t been great for them, but we are determined to do them. I’ve had to reorganize a couple, but the weather is meant to get better. If you are in Melbourne, snow is predicted in the nearby mountains on Wednesday. Very early for snow, I think it is an indication of what this winter is going to be like.
I wanted to say that if you want to learn to use your camera, or maybe just go out and take photos with me, then you can book your own One on One Photography session with me. I charge $280 for them, and they are over 4 hours, but you can do it in one session, or do it over 2 sessions, which is a lovely way as well. Send me an email if you’re interested, firstname.lastname@example.org.
In June I am running a Astrophotography Class in June, for anyone who would like a lesson on how to do it. The class is $120 and we will be going to Sorrento in the afternoon to do some photography first, maybe a sunset, then dinner and back to the beach to capture the Milky Way. It is on Saturday June the 13th. I’m staying down there for the weekend, so lots of time to get other photos as well. Again, if you are interested, then please send me an email, email@example.com. Places will be limited.
Dynamic Range, Magazine for Highlighting Women’s Photography
Plans are still being ironed out about the shape and form of this magazine. It’s quite exciting, and nice to see the support that it is getting. I had a friend over the other day who was going through lots of stuff with me about what I need to work out and set up. It was fantastic and I realized there is a lot I need to do. Though also a lot I can delegate.
One of the first things I am going to have to do is come up with some guidelines on submissions. They will be available in the magazine, and will also be sent to people who want to write for it.
Another thing that seems to keep coming up is charging a fee for the magazine, my husband thinks I should stop doing so much for free and start charging and that I should charge for the magazine, even if it is a nominal fee. Other people have said exactly the same, that I should charge for it. I guess my reluctance comes because people just don’t want to pay for anything anymore. So, I thought I would see what you all thought. I’m going to include a poll, or two. I just need to see what people think.
I went out to take photos today of some waterfalls, but it was raining so much that we didn’t take any, well except with my phone. It was a place I’ve never been to before, but we know we will go back. So for the photos today I went through all my old photos to find some older photos of waterfalls for you.
