Weekend Wanderings: Interrupted

new-york-public-library-ceiling

You have to take opportunities when they are presented, I think. My computer is behaving like an old person and going very slow. I got a SSD (solid state drive) for it a couple of months ago, but the time hasn’t been right to install it. I think today is the time to do it. My husband is home and not doing much, so I’m going for it.

As such I won’t have my computer for most of the day. I’ve copied everything onto the back up, I hope. Been through most things, so I think I’ve got everything. Fingers crossed. Of course once it’s done I have to go through the whole process of reinstalling everything again, that’s always fun. Β I should be an old hand at it now, I’ve done it about four times in the last 12 months.

So today I am just going to show you three photos that I have spent some more time processing. They are all from New York and all from the day I spent with Stacy, Robert and Robyn. I hope you don’t mind the short post. I trust you are having a good weekend.

  1. You are brutal on your computers! 😊 working them to death you are…

    October 18, 2015
    • I think it is working me to death John. Spent all the time yesterday trying to get it to work and couldn’t get Windows to load, crazy. So still no SSD for me.

      October 19, 2015
      • I hope this get’s sorted out soon. i THINK YOU MENTIONED YOUR HUSBAND IS A TECH GUY WHO CAN DO THIS SORT OF THING. kIND OF FUNNY THOUGH THAT OUR MOBILE DEVICES AND TABLETS ARE solid state, but laptops and PC’s have to catch up I guess. Sorry for the caps…

        October 19, 2015
      • I’m sure it will, seems we can do a clean install with Windows 10, especially that I just downloaded and installed it. So hopefully it will work with this. We were trying to do it with Windows 7, but it didn’t want to participate. I know what you mean, they are better and faster, they should just come with them. Thanks John, and no problem, I know how that happens.

  2. old luck with that SSD πŸ™‚

    October 18, 2015
    • Thanks, but it didn’t work, Windows would load on it, I keep hearing all day how Windows is crap. 😦

      October 19, 2015
      • I was a Microsoft pundit for years but switched Apple – iPhone, iMac and MacBook – 2 years ago and have never regretted it, particularly for visual word πŸ˜„

        October 19, 2015
      • My husband is a Linux guy and I used that for years, but Photoshop won’t work on it, so I am stuck with Windows. My husband absolutely hates Apple and thinks they are a total rip off, that you pay twice as much for anything. I have to say I don’t like that either. That is why they are so rich. Still I think Windows is fine for what I want to do, it is just the reinstall that is a bit of a pain, but we will get there. Thanks.

      • I’m an IT guy. Even met Bill Gates once. Never thought I would switch. Apple products may be more expensive but for good reason. Easy to use. No problems. Reliable. Innovative. A big time saver. Tell your husband to come over for a beer πŸ˜„

        October 19, 2015
      • My husband is an IT guy, worked in the industry for many years, he’s a programmer and I don’t think you could convince him of it. He was working with a guy that used only Apple and I won’t tell you what my husband thought of him.

  3. Wonderful! Each has its own drama…

    October 18, 2015
    • Thank you, I like adding drama, or putting more emphasis on it.

      October 19, 2015
  4. Andy #

Well, that Fulton Street photo is quite special. Love it.

    October 18, 2015
    • It is quite an amazing station really, I have other photos of it, but haven’t really processed them yet. Thanks Andy.

      October 19, 2015
  5. All three photos are very majestic. You got the angle and the lighting just right. Beautiful. Good luck with the computer upgrade. Been there, done that, still teasing out the details. πŸ™‚

    October 18, 2015
    • Thank you ardysez, oh the computer what a nightmare, Windows wouldn’t load on it, thankfully we could go back to the other disks, so I still don’t have it. Have been trying out Windows 10 though, not too bad so far. πŸ™‚

  6. Great set, Leanne. Short and sweet.

    October 18, 2015
    • Can be nice sometimes, thanks Jane.

      October 19, 2015
  7. Good luck. I hope it’s all worked as it should.

    October 18, 2015
    • Unfortunately it didn’t, Dave swore a lot and cursed Windows even more, but couldn’t get it to load on the new SSD, so it is back to the old for me. I think he is going to try again at some point. Maybe.

      October 19, 2015
      • Computers are great until they won’t do what you want. Can’t it just read your mind??

        October 19, 2015
      • Exactly, they should just know what I want to do, I thought they were meant to make things easier.

        October 19, 2015
  8. Good luck with the re-install. Love the photos.

    October 18, 2015
    • Thank you, the re-install didn’t happen, couldn’t get windows to boot up on the new disk, so back to the drawing board for us. Oh well.

      October 19, 2015
      • Oh well.

        October 19, 2015
      • We have found another way of doing it, so hopefully I will be using the faster disk soon. Fingers crossed.

        October 19, 2015
  9. Love the photos. Hope the computer transition goes smoothly.

    October 18, 2015
    • Thank you, it didn’t go well, we couldn’t get windows to install, so research is needed to see what we can do next.

      October 19, 2015
  10. What an interesting image the subway makes.

    October 18, 2015
    • It is nice, I think, when they build nice stations. I like that one. Thanks Gypsy.

      October 19, 2015
  11. Sue #

Hope you get your arthritic computer going a bit better soon!

    October 18, 2015
    • The computer is new, but the software not so, we couldn’t install Windows, so more research is needed. Thanks Sue.

      October 19, 2015
  12. Gorgeous pictures Leanne. Such beautiful architecture and wonderfully composed images. I love the curve theme running through the selection. Good luck with the computer!

    October 18, 2015
    • Thank you Katie. I had realized about the curved theme, nice observation. The computer didn’t go well, so back to the drawing board, and more research to be done.

      October 19, 2015
      • Oh dear, sorry to hear the computer didn’t go well, hope you can find another solution.

        October 21, 2015
      • We think we might have, just need to find the time to try it now.

        October 23, 2015
  13. Wonderful Leanne .. I hope you get that computer sorted 😊

    October 18, 2015

    Really beautiful photos!

    October 18, 2015
  16. Good luck with the computer. Windows 10 finally settled down on my computer with only a small few bugs left.

    October 18, 2015
    • Thanks Sherry, we’ve been trying to put Windows 7 back on it, but it wouldn’t take it, so I might have to look at Windows 10, have installed it now, but not with the new drive.

      October 19, 2015
  17. Stunning shots Leanne!

    October 18, 2015
  18. Good Luck. It is such a pain to go through that. Just did it a couple of months ago and I’m still installing things.

    October 19, 2015
    • Thanks Dave, a pain and even more so when it doesn’t work. We couldn’t get windows to install, so more research.

      October 19, 2015
  19. Next time I have to do a full restore, I’ll ask you to do it. πŸ™‚

    October 19, 2015
    • Yes, I will be getting good at it soon, Thanks David, though haven’t had to do it yet, it didn’t work, so we are doing more research. 😦

      October 19, 2015
  20. I’m interested to know if you like the SSD…I have been replacing all my old mechanical drives at work with them…one thing (at least for the Macs) you need a software patch for the fan as the SSD does not generate the same kind of heat…enjoy!

    October 19, 2015
    • I had one in my laptop and loved it, so when I got this new PC the plan was always to put one it, but it has taken time. We couldn’t get Windows 7 to install so I’ve upgraded to Windows 10 and apparently there is a way of doing it, so we will try it again. The one in the laptop was so fast. I don’t know about the patch, as far as I know they are fine, haven’t heard anything about heat. Thanks Robert.

  21. Fingers aching your computer to read your MIND, meanwhile your images are most beautiful

    October 19, 2015
    • Oh yes, I want that, it would make everything so much easier if it just knew what I wanted. Thanks Cornelia.

      October 19, 2015
  22. Very beautiful pictures. I wish I had photoshop. I love the angles you used to take your photos. Great work!

    October 19, 2015
    • Thank you Yaz, I don’t think I could live without it now, I really depend on it.

      October 19, 2015
  23. Damn, girl, you have such a great eye!! Each of these images is stunning! I may have said this on one of your other posts before, but I love seeing what you chose to photograph in the buildings and locations we were in. πŸ˜„

As for your computer issues, since I’m so far behind on reading posts, I’m assuming all has worked out with the upgrade? Fingers crossed!

    October 21, 2015
    • Thank you Stacy, I think you have a good eye too. That’s interesting, I find it interesting too to see what others take photos of.
NO, it hasn’t all worked out yet, but hopefully we are on the way to success. We now have to wait for cable. Yes, fingers crossed soon.

      October 21, 2015
  24. Great photos, Leanne! Not enough people look up for their next shot. πŸ˜‰

    October 23, 2015
    • I agree, it is a great thing to do, you can see some great things that way. πŸ™‚
