MM 2-32: Monochrome Madness

So there were no comments about what we could do for December, and when I suggested to a friend that we could make a theme for each week she said she would need time to sort out some images. I like this idea, so we are going to do it.

  • 1st week of Decemeber the 2nd – Bells
  • 2nd week, December the 9th – Santa or Elves
  • 3rd week, December the 16th – Angels
  • 4th week, December the 23rd – Christmas where you are.

I hope you like my choices. I don’t mind the last week having some colour coming through, not a complete colour image, but the Christmas colours can shine through.

Let’s take a look at this weeks MM.

This is another image from the day I went to Dragon’s Head at Rye. A long exposure of the water there. I like these in monochrome.

Monochrome Madness each week and if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is leanne@leannecole.com.au
  • The image size should be low res, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Wednesday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.

  7. Thanks for including me again, Leanne! I love your Dragons Head photo. I’ve been going back and forth between wanting to ask Santa for filters or for a wide angle lens. This morning I was sure I want the lens. Now seeing your photo I’m back to wanting the filters. 🙂

    November 11, 2015
    • You’re welcome Nicci and thank you. I think a wide angle would be better over filter, you can use a wide angle a lot, but filters are something you use occasionally. I would get the wide angle and just go for it, there is always Christmas next year. If I had to choose I wouldn’t give up my wide angle. 🙂 I hope that helps.

      November 11, 2015
      • It does help, Leanne, and as you know, I grew bored with your filters pretty quickly, but I’m always crouching down but still getting really frustrated trying to get a whole tree or room or building, and I still really love that image you took of the Flatiron building with the crosswalk in the foreground. LOL on Christmas next year! I forgot about that!

        November 11, 2015
      • Filters can be a novelty sort of thing, and definitely something that I only got after I had the rest of the gear I wanted. If you are getting frustrated with that then you should get a wide angle. I love the ability of the wide angles, it can be fantastic.

      • I hope Santa is generous!! 😀

        November 11, 2015

  9. Your image is spectacular! Love the depth and dimension it shows.
… December themes are good. I hope I can participate. Not sure about Santa and his elves.

    November 11, 2015
    • Thank you Dorothy.
That’s good, I hope you can, though it is Santa OR his elves, doesn’t have to be both. We get very cute elves here for Christmas so it would be nice to take photos of them.

  13. Great selection of images! I love to see all the black and white pictures each week, such variety of styles. I like your idea of a theme each week in December, I can see I’m going to have to get creative or track down Santa before Christmas Eve! 🙂

    November 12, 2015
    • I know just what you mean Katie, I’m glad you like the themes, they should be fun. Oh yes, hang out at a kids store, you’ll find one there.
